To enter into LPN programs in Illinois, approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation: Division of Professional Regulation (Department), you should be above 18 years of age, have a high school diploma, have a clear criminal background and should be able to clear the health exam. Its curriculum covers both scientific and arts topics. Mostly, it takes around 9-12 months for its completion. Almost equal numbers of hours are distributed among the classroom and the clinical training.
Exam Fee
After the LPN training, you must also clear the NCLEX-PN examination to obtain your license. An examination fee of $200 is to be paid to Pearson Vue at the time of registration. An application fee $91 is charged by the Illinois Board of Nursing. Fingerprinting and criminal history check should be done by the Illinois State Police prior to the NCLEX-PN examination. It is a written exam with multiple choice questions. There is a minimum waiting period of 30 days before re-applying, if you do not clear the exam. After being employed, the license should be renewed every 2 years with a fee of $30.
Illinois is not a part of the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC), but those having authentic and active LPN licenses can apply for endorsement (licensure transfer). For license through endorsement, you need to provide the copies of transcripts and LPN license to the Illinois Board of Nursing.
