Details of LPN Training

Florida LPN training is provided technical colleges, vocational centers, community colleges, and hospitals; approved by the Florida State Board of Nursing. They commonly take 1 year for the completion of the curriculum. Many LPN programs require a high school diploma or GED and successfully passing of the health exam. Classroom training embodies anatomy, basic nursing concepts, first-aid, nutrition, physiology, and other relevant subjects. Clinical experience is provided to the students in hospitals under proper supervision.

Exam Fee

For obtaining the license to practice in the state of Florida, you must pass the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Examination (NCLEX-PN). It is a computer based program consisting of 90 to 205 questions to be completed within 5 hours. You need to register online with Pearson Vue after completing your training with an examination fee of $200. A fee of $204 is charged by the Florida Board of Nursing. You must also pass the health exam and criminal background check. In case you don’t succeed to pass in the exam for three times, then you need to go through remedial training approved by the Florida Board of Nursing. The licenses should be renewed every 2 years, charging $145, along with the proof of 24 hours of continuing education.

The wages and remunerations of LPN in Florida differ according to location, experience, facility and other aspects. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the wages of LPN in Florida (in May 2010) were $40,230 (annual mean wages) and $19.34 (hourly wages).
